Duo personal training at The Gym Amsterdam in De Pijp lets two of you share a session with the same certified English-speaking trainer — at a lower per-person rate than two single PT sessions. Accountability doubles when someone you care about is showing up with you.

  • Parent-child pairs — popular with parents of fit-active teenagers (16+) or with adult children training their parents.

How a duo session works

A typical 60-minute duo session:

  • Warm-up together (10 min) — same dynamic mobility for both
  • Main work — synchronized (30-35 min) — both partners do same exercises but with weights/intensity tailored to each individual level. Trainer rotates focus, correcting one while the other works.
  • Partner finisher (10-15 min) — a circuit you do together (timed challenges, relay-style intervals, kettlebell pass-offs)
  • Cool-down (5 min) — mobility and recovery together

What if we have different fitness levels?

That’s normal and easy to manage. Same exercises, different weights or rep counts. The trainer adjusts on the fly. We’ve trained duos where one partner is a competitive athlete and the other a complete beginner — both leave satisfied.

Duo training pricing

Duo packages are sold per pair. A duo session typically costs less than 2x single-session price, making it significantly more affordable per person. Duo training FAQ

What if one of us can’t make a scheduled session?

The session is shared — if your partner can’t come, you can either do it solo (treated as single PT at single-rate) or reschedule together. Cancellation policy is the same as regular PT: 24 hours notice.

Can we both have different goals?

Yes — within reason. If one of you is doing fat loss and the other is doing strength building, the trainer programs a session that serves both (different rep ranges, different weights, same movement patterns). Very different goals (e.g., marathon prep vs. hypertrophy) may not blend well — better to do separate sessions then.

How do we book?

Book a single duo intake (free, both of you present) where the trainer meets you both, does InBody on each, and proposes a plan. Then you decide on session frequency together.

Is duo training in English available?

Yes — all our trainers speak fluent English. Many duo clients are international couples or expat partner pairs.

Can we add a third person (trio training)?

Not typically — quality drops below 2-on-1 ratio because the trainer can’t give equal attention to three people in 60 minutes. For groups of 3-6, consider corporate group sessions instead.
